Indonesia is home to some of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems on earth. We believe the best way to protect these places is to make sure tourism works for them, not against them. Every operator on Indahnesia meets our environmental standards — not because we want to lecture anyone, but because we think great travel and responsible travel should be the same thing.
Our Commitments
No Single-Use Plastic
All partner boats and tours operate plastic-free. No disposable cups, straws, or water bottles on board. We provide alternatives and check compliance on every trip we vet.
Reef-Safe Only
Conventional sunscreen kills coral. Every Indahnesia partner requires reef-safe sunscreen for snorkelling and diving. Some provide it on board — we flag which ones do.
Reusable Water Bottles
Every boat in our network provides refillable water stations. Bring your own bottle or borrow one on board. No single-use plastic bottles at sea.
Local Crew Employment
Our partners hire locally. Captains, guides, cooks, and deckhands come from the communities around Komodo, Sumba, and Raja Ampat. Tourism money stays where it belongs.
Carbon Awareness
Sailing is already one of the lowest-impact ways to travel. We’re transparent about the footprint of each trip and actively favour operators who minimise fuel use and offset emissions.
Marine Conservation
Several of our partners contribute directly to marine conservation programmes, from coral restoration in Komodo to manta ray monitoring in Raja Ampat. We highlight these efforts so you can choose to support them.
What We Expect From Our Partners
Every operator on Indahnesia is personally vetted against our environmental criteria before they can list. We check for single-use plastic policies, reef-safe sunscreen requirements, local crew employment, proper waste management, and marine conservation awareness. Operators who don't meet our standards don't make it onto the platform — no matter how popular they are. We review compliance regularly and remove partners who fall short.
