About Indahnesia
We only list what we'd book ourselves.
Our Story
Indahnesia started the way the best travel stories do — with a one-way ticket and no return date. Over a decade ago, our founders landed in Labuan Bajo when it was still a sleepy fishing town at the edge of Komodo National Park. What was meant to be a short visit turned into a life. We sailed, explored, befriended local captains, discovered hidden islands, and slowly built something we wished had existed when we first arrived: a trusted guide to Indonesia's most extraordinary experiences.
After 30+ sailing trips, countless sunrises over volcanic islands, and years of working alongside Indonesia's best local operators, we launched Indahnesia — a platform built on firsthand knowledge, not algorithms. Every listing on our site has been personally vetted. Every operator is someone we know and trust. This isn't a marketplace where anyone can list. It's a curated collection of experiences we genuinely believe in.
What Indahnesia IS
- A curated platform — every experience handpicked and personally vetted
- Built on 10+ years of living and travelling across eastern Indonesia
- A trusted friend who knows the best captains, the quietest beaches, the right season to visit
- Committed to responsible travel — reef-safe, plastic-free, local-crew-first
What Indahnesia IS NOT
- Not a marketplace where anyone can list — we say no to most applicants
- Not a generic OTA recycling the same mass-tourism packages
- Not run from a distant office — our team lives in the destinations we feature
- Not about volume — we'd rather list 50 great experiences than 500 average ones

How we curate
Every experience on Indahnesia has been personally reviewed by our team. We don't rely on algorithms or self-reported ratings. Here's what we actually look at before anything goes live.
Safety first, always
Licensed vessels, certified guides, proper insurance, working safety equipment. We check these in person, not on paper.
Quality you can feel
Clean cabins, good food, attentive crew, well-maintained equipment. The kind of details that separate a great trip from an okay one.
Genuine eco commitment
Reef-safe sunscreen policies, no single-use plastic, responsible anchoring, marine life guidelines. Not greenwashing — actual practice.
Local knowledge
Operators who know their waters, their islands, their seasons. People who've spent years building relationships with local communities.
Fair to their crew
We look at how operators treat their people — fair wages, proper rest, local hiring. A great guest experience starts with a happy team.
Not everything makes the cut
We turn down more operators than we accept. If a boat doesn't meet safety standards, if the eco claims don't hold up on inspection, or if guest feedback consistently flags issues — we don't list it. Being selective is the whole point. When you book on Indahnesia, you know someone has already done the homework.
“We came for a week and stayed for a decade. Indahnesia is everything we wish we'd had when we first arrived.”
