Labuan Bajo Sunset Trip: Kalong, Manjarite & Kelor Island
Why October is perfect for this trip
Peak manta encounters at Mawan, Cauldron, and Karang Makassar.
Manta Ray Season, Apr–Oct
A four-hour afternoon escape into the Komodo archipelago, timed for the one spectacle the day trips always miss: sunset over Pulau Kalong. The trip starts in Labuan Bajo at 15:00. The first stop is Kelor Island, for snorkeling and a short walk up to a viewpoint over the strait. From there the boat moves to Manjarite, where a wooden pier reaches out over shallow, glass-clear water and the reef begins a few strokes from the ladder. The afternoon ends at Pulau Kalong, home to a colony of flying foxes. At dusk thousands of them lift out of the mangroves and cross the sky as the sun goes down. Return to Labuan Bajo around 19:00, with pick-up and drop-off at your hotel included.
